Picturebook II is a captivating, child-focused collection designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and a love for storytelling and adventure. Once again, Villa Nova has collaborated with internationally renowned children’s book illustrators Frann Preston-Gannon, Christopher Corr, and Yuval Zommer. This new collection delves into their vivid imaginations and embraces the wonder of childhood through fresh, enchanting stories.
The Villa Nova design studio has seamlessly translated the illustrators’ distinctive styles into detailed fabrics, wallcoverings, rugs, trimmings, and accessories, capturing the vivid colours, whimsical characters, and imaginative scenes of their artwork.
Each illustrator’s designs are brought to life through three unique stories. Frann Preston-Gannon’s illustrations invite exploration of secret woodlands, fairy gardens, and skies filled with castles and clouds. Christopher Corr’s work infuses life and adventure, from vibrant scenes that inspire learning to interstellar escapades and designs that celebrate life’s simple pleasures. Lastly, Yuval Zommer’s illustrations depict the wonder of the natural world, featuring jungles, gardens, and underwater kingdoms teeming with life.
Frann Preston-Gannon is a London-based illustrator and designer. Her first picture book, The Journey Home, was published in October 2012 and was shortlisted for both the Waterstones Children’s Prize and the Cambridgeshire ‘Read it Again’ Book Prize.
Christopher Corr (a graduate of the Royal College of Art) takes a great deal of inspiration from his travels and produces joyful and colourful work. Chris creates astounding imagery of scenes from around the world and crazy, complex cityscapes. He enjoys architecture, all the way from stone huts through to modernist structure.
Yuval Zommer graduated from London’s Royal College of Art with an MA in Illustration. After working as a creative director at a leading advertising agency his passion for picture books triumphed and he is now the author of several highly acclaimed children’s books. His incredibly intricate illustrations have a detail like no other with a hand-drawn element and a layering pattern that creates a scene of intrigue.
