365: What do you love most about Kent?
G: There’s no place like home! Living in the Garden of England makes me appreciate how well-connected Kent is to both the countryside and coast. I love that you can drive 20 minutes one way into a magnificent forest and 20 minutes the other way to a beautiful beach. The best of both worlds.
365: Describe a typical day in the life.
G: During 2021 I launched my own photography and social media studio, called Wildflower. Since I have gone freelance, no day is the same which is so exciting and definitely keeps me on my toes! The one constant being that every day begins and ends with walking our dogs within our village, or in the forest which is close to our cottage.
365: You have two gorgeous dogs, where are some of your favourite places to walk them?
G: Thank you so much! Labradors are high energy and stimulant dogs so we like to give them lots of off-the-lead time. Our favourite rural locations are Covert Woods, Kings Wood and anywhere across the Norths Downs Way.
365: What are your top tips for staying motivated and getting things done?
G: For staying motivated, give yourself breathing space and decent time off. I find that being well-rested makes me bounce back harder and more motivated each time. If the workload is heavy and time off just isn’t possible – which happens often – ensure you have time in your day to get outside and get fresh air. My fiancé and I share notes and to-do-lists on our iPhone to make sure we don’t miss any life errands in the midst of work or important occasions. When you’re busy, things can be very easy to overbook!
365: You’ve recently bought your own beautiful cottage in Kent, tell us a little bit about that.
G: Thank you, we absolutely love our new home! It was first listed in 1720 but no one is sure when the house was originally built. The stone in the wine cellar is the same as the church on our street which was mentioned in the doomsday book so we think the property is much older! It’s very cosy and has been a well-loved home by all its previous owners. Full of charm and character, everything is wonky and each room has lots of quirky features. We feel very lucky to be a part of this house’s story and own a chapter of its journey. Sure, it’ll be standing a lot longer than us!
365: What are your go-to outfits for a comfy casual look and evening wear?
G: During the week and working from home I live in a chunky knit jumper and Holland Cooper Wellingtons, mainly because I spend my time between my home studio and the forest throughout the day. For any location shoots, I absolutely adore neutral linen and minimalist attire, this is reflected in evening wear also. Some might call it boring, but a classic white or black dress is my go-to.
365: What do your services at Wildflower include?
G: Our studio is a combination of two areas only, to ensure the most expertise and updated knowledge. The first being photography and content creation for your channel, which includes styling, locations, aesthetics, galleries and more; and the second is social media management, with strategy/consultancy sessions also available.
365: What does 2022 have in store for you?
G: This June, we are getting married in Puglia, so we are preparing for a full Italian summer. After waiting two years we are so excited for this to happen. The cottage will also be underway in being redecorated while keeping and exposing more original features of the building (some rooms had been modernised too far.)
After lockdown, I felt that 2022 overall, was meant to be here to enjoy with family and friends. So, I’m looking forward to building more memories in the countryside with our loved ones.
