Behind The Scenes At Sumosan Twiga, One Of London’s Best Dining Spots

Sumosan Twiga is a Japanese / Italian restaurant that you need to visit this Summer. If you’re looking for a high-end, fine dining, buzzy, upbeat restaurant this Summer- book it. Located in the illustrious area of Knightsbridge and surrounded by the world’s best designer boutiques, the location couldn’t be more suited to the feel of the restaurant.

I visited on a seemingly unassuming Wednesday evening, but by 8pm the restaurant was buzzing.  Food & service were second to none, exactly what you would expect from an establishment in one of London’s most elite postcodes.

We started with a glass of Moet & Chandon, entrees of salted Edamame beans, and a generous portion of Burrata with a mozzarella and basil salad to accompany. An odd combination, granted, but both nationalities of cuisine were so authentic and irresistible- it just worked.

As a preview of the Asian offering on the menu, we indulged in Nigiri, Tuna Sashimi, Albemare Sushi Rolls, Black Cod (my favourite dish) and Chicken Yakitori- all faultless. By this point in the evening, the beautiful and talented singer ‘Najwa & The Funks’ had arrived to woo the diners, giving the air of a swinging sixties jazzy cocktail bar (a great place to people watch I’ll add, as London’s famous faces started to surround our table).

To follow we enjoyed a light sea bass dish, incredibly tender, accompanied by a tasty fried rice side. Both dishes were suitably washed down with the light and fruity 2017 Santenay Pinot Noir (£90 per bottle, £21 per glass). The perfect summer tipple for those of us who like to enjoy red wine all year round.

For dessert, we opted for the refreshingly light take on a traditional fruit platter. Perfectly ripe pineapple, strawberries and blueberries accompanied with a decadent white chocolate sauce, the perfect way to finish the meal.

Sumosan Twiga makes you feel as if you have stepped into one of London’s best-kept secrets. The perfect place to eat, drink & party, Sumosan is London’s answer to the likes of Scorpios Mykonos, a hip London hangout for those in the know.

A 3-course lunch for two would set you back roughly just over £200 with a bottle of wine but we think it’s worth every penny.
