The new Female Inspired Spring Afternoon Tea at Conrad London St. James is bursting with colours that celebrate the flavours and scents of springtime. Launching on Sunday 8^th March, International Women’s Day, the Afternoon Tea has been created by Executive Pastry Chef Diana Sedlakova, who elegantly blended the tradition of classic afternoon tea with contemporary flavours and techniques. With the launch of this new tea, the infamous Free-Flowing Champagne Afternoon Tea will return to Emmeline’s Lounge.

Inspired by the distinctive characters of the Little Women book, the cake display includes four individual treats which represent the flavours of each pastry. Guests can look forward to indulging in the Raspberry Macaroon with Ruby Chocolate Ganache based on the books’ responsible, classy and romantic character ‘Margaret (Meg)’. The Jasmine Tea Roulade with Chantilly Cream and Mango Compote represents the more fragile and kind nature of ‘Elizabeth (Beth)’ while the Coco & Caramelised Hazelnut Tart with Espresso Infused Cream is based on the vain youngest sister ‘Amy’. Lastly, ‘Josephine (Jo)’ the adventurous and rebellious sister is translated to the Dark Honey Opera Cake with Candy Ginger and Meyer Lemon.

With an extensive range of tea varieties to choose from, a Tea Sommelier will be on hand to personalise the experience, making sure that guests get the perfect blend to suit their mood. Alternatively, guests can opt for a little extra luxury with a cocktail to pair with each cake or 1.5 hours of free-flowing Champagne available Monday to Sunday.

Using fresh, seasonal ingredients, the new Spring Afternoon Tea menu also offers a savoury selection and a variety of sandwiches inspired by spring, from pickled cucumber and creamed goats cheese with shallot, mint, lemon and baby spinach to free-range hen egg mayonnaise with crispy bacon bits, spring onions, chives and mustard. All sandwiches are served alongside fresh scones with a dollop of clotted cream, strawberry jam and a drizzle of lemon curd, for a zesty springtime twist.
