This weeks edition of 4 Corners Of My Home is with Sam Gee, the master of the interiors behind the stunning @thegarthhome on Instagram.

1. Navy Blue Lounge (pictured above also)

This is one of the first rooms we decorated when we moved in over nine years ago so I think we can say it’s a pretty timeless style!  There’s actually a dark blue textured wallpaper on some walls, but to save cost and time we colour-matched the wallpaper with some Dulux paint for the other walls.  I remember buying the paint and being asked if I was doing a feature wall to which I said ‘no, a feature room!’.  More recently I’ve added some John Sankey sofas, bright cushions, and a huge portrait photograph from the fabulous Jenny Boot.

2.Setting Plaster Breakfast Room

This is the most recently decorated room and it was red tartan not long ago.  I took advice from Claire at Geek Vintique for this scheme.  Despite the large windows, there’s still not a lot of natural light in here, so she recommended F&B Setting Plaster which is a nice warm neutral.  I like every room to have a bit of ‘punch’ and the beautiful art nouveau swirls of the F&B Lotus Wallpaper really play to my wallpaper obsession.  The ornate gold mirror was a find on “Vinterior” which is a website that I love for vintage and antique treasures.

3. Hackney Bedroom

This was a ‘playroom’ for our daughter which we updated to a more sophisticated bedroom when she went to University a couple of years ago.   The star of the room is very much the panel of House of Hackney wallpaper on the chimney breast.  By adding a bit of beading we managed to transform the room using just one roll of this gorgeous paper.  And the picture was even shared by House of Hackney on their Instagram feed which I was thrilled by given they are such an uber cool brand!  My daughter and I painted the bedside tables in F&B Sulking Room Pink during lockdown which I think is a perfect contrast colour with the De Nimes walls.

4. Morris Dressing Room

For eight years our dressing room was a complete tip with overflowing temporary wardrobes.  When we eventually had some lovely bespoke wardrobes fitted by a local interiors company it felt right to use some William Morris wallpaper given the age of the house.  I initially did just one feature wall, but after seeing it up I bought some more for the rest of the room (not the first time I’ve changed my mind AFTER a room has been decorated).  The chest is another Vinterior bargain bought for under £300.  Luckily I like brown furniture so it’s relatively easy to pick up a real bargain.  The round mirror is from Cox and Cox and the beautiful lampshades are Pooky.  It’s been a delight to have such grown-up order in here since.
