BSC Education to Roll Out NCUK International Foundation Year Programmes Across London and York Colleges
Following a successful PFE (Private Further Education) inspection, BSC Education has announced the roll out of its highly sought-after NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) programme across its central London and York colleges in 2025. The programme offers both UK and international students an unparalleled opportunity to boost confidence, language and study skills while preparing for academic success in the vibrant cities of London and York, before progressing to one of 60+ world-class universities in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
Having recently launched its IFY programme in Malta, BSC is thrilled to be rolling out the same programme across two of its UK colleges. The programme is proving to be a popular bridging year for students who are still discovering their passions and academic strengths but are keen to move onto higher education within the UK or overseas. After joining the IFY programme, students will work with BSC’s academic advisors and student experience team members to explore multi exit points across 6,000 undergraduate degree options before finding the best universities and programmes to match their individual needs and career goals. The IFY programme will be launching in London in January 2025 and in York, from September 2025.
Ed Brandt, Director of Academic Strategy at BSC Education explained more, “The International Foundation Year is an ideal opportunity for those students who are excited about pursuing higher education in the UK but have not yet chosen a subject to study or decided which pathway they want to follow. The programme gives them that breathing space as well as a focused environment within which to learn and develop new skills, while enjoying the vibrancy and culture of city life. Having an IFY under your belt, also opens the door to thousands of top degree courses at iconic and well-established universities both in the UK and abroad.”
BSC Education has always placed a strong focus on student welfare and safeguarding, which was highlighted in its most recent inspections, and this will also be a key component for student success on the IFY programme. “Our students receive the very best support from a pastoral perspective, delivered by fully trained and approachable staff. From a comprehensive induction to a varied social events programme and helpful advice around next steps in education or career progression, students have access to ongoing support throughout their journey with us,” added Brandt.
Adam Connor, Regional Director UK, Europe and Rest of the World at NCUK, said, "I am delighted that BSC Education will run the NCUK International Foundation Year in London and York. Students will have access to a fantastic education with exceptional future prospects.”
Students will be able to select a combination of subject modules within the programme which includes Business Studies, Global Studies, Economics and Maths, all delivered in English to reflect the teaching they will experience at university. For those who need it, these modules are supported by an English for Academic Purposes course, which ensures all students reach university with the required high standard of English skills. BSC Education’s trained counsellors will also provide support and guidance to students throughout their journey, helping them with their academic study skills, degree course choices and university applications. Students also benefit from a series of cultural integration workshops so that they feel fully equipped to start university life away from home.
