London Lifestyle Reviews: Phoenix London’s New Bottomless Brunch

Brunch has become an unmissable part of the weekend for most of us, especially the foodies among us. With more and more Bottomless Brunch experiences popping up over London (each with a host of unique dishes that make up their menus), when it comes to venue decision time it can be a little overwhelming.  Add in the factor of ‘bottomless’ and the quest to find the next best brunch spot becomes an entirely new game, there is, however, no need to ponder the decision. Enter ‘The Phoenix London Bottomless Brunch’.

You will find ‘The Phoenix’ located in Westfield, Shepherd’s Bush, thus providing the perfect starter to a day of retail therapy or perhaps, like me, the perfect end to a weekend of good times spent with friends. The Phoenix sits on the outdoor avenue alongside other eateries at Westfield, standing out from the crowd due to its stunning, and therefore highly ‘instagrammable’, exterior. Rows of refectory tables that sit under a vast canopy of lilac wisteria flowers and fairy lights make up an outdoor terrace perfect for sunnier days spent whiling the hours away with friends.

As we headed to our table, it was clear that the botanical garden vibe continued inside. A light, bright and airy industrial interior complete with a lengthy bar overhung with endless trailing green plants creates a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing space, complete with big, bold pieces of artwork that take up the walls. Space is a key element to The Phoenix, big tables and squashy seats make it perfect for spreading out as you sit back and enjoy 90 minutes of free-flowing bubbles and cocktails at just £30 per person.

Drinks!

To start, the three of us girls opted for a Pink Grapefruit Margarita, Passionfruit Mezcalita and classic brunch fave of mine – a Bloody Mary. On first sip, you could tell that these cocktails had been freshly and expertly made by the great team behind the bar, full of unique flavour, very thirst-quenching and of course appealing to the eye due to elegant glasses, pretty garnishes and bright colours. Unlike other bottomless brunch venues, there is a lot of choice when it comes to drinks at The Phoenix – Prosecco, mimosas, fresh juices, ginger shots and other flavours of spritz and margaritas are also available – so drink up!

Food!

Whatever your mood at brunch, whether it be sweet or savoury, there is sure to be something to suit your palette on Phoenix’s brunch menu. Deciding against the Maple-Honey Pancakes (one for next time!) I decided on the ‘Eggs Benny with N’duja Hollandaise’ which also included an eggless bun, smoked ham hock and chives. Also arriving at the table for me to feast my eyes upon were my friends’ choices of hot oak smoked salmon with truffled scrambled eggs on sourdough toast with parmesan shavings and burnt lemon, and, for my vegan friend, the ‘Tempeh Rice Bowl’ which consisted of marinated tempeh, seasoned jasmine rice, fermented red onion, creamy miso-soy dressing, steamed corn, edamame, kimchi, crispy kale and white sesame seeds.

All three dishes came beautifully presented and sat perfectly alongside our beautiful cocktails, giving our senses a feast of colour before we ate. My poached eggs were cooked to perfection, the satisfying runny golden-orange yolk a testament to this. The lightly toasted bun, flavoursome hollandaise and quality ham hock made this dish the perfect light brunch which anyone would delight in at the weekend.

Brunch

Deciding to finish off our bottomless brunch with a round of the non-alcoholic, fresh juices we savoured the last sips of these feeling utterly refreshed, nourished and recharged in surroundings that complemented these feelings of positivity, happiness and contentment. An idyllic place to enjoy long, fun brunches with friends that are sure to leave you feeling the same way we did! The Phoenix Bottomless Brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 13.00 to 16.30.
